Random movies I randomly found on Tumblr.

After watching one of the movies I'll be talking about on this post (the last one to be more concise), I realized how many interesting movies Tumblr led me to. In case you didn't have the same luck as I did, I think it's my turn to share them. I must warn you that I'm not the best person to describe or review movies, specially writing in a language that I am not native, so if you have any doubts, you can check them out on IMDb just by clicking above the movie title.

Girl, Interrupted (1999)
Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie in a mental institution, a 1990's production in a 1960's reality and for bonus we have Jared Leto with a bowl haircut and mustache. If those words and names didn't grab your attention, then you should reconsider your film perceptions.
Girl, Interrupted is about an 18 year old woman who doesn't want to go to college but to become a writer. She is feeling depressed and as her parents think she attempted to commit suicide, they decide to put her in a mental institution. Now she is going to deal with other women whose issues are way more problematic than hers.
What I most enjoyed was the stories of the other girls, specially Lisa's (Angelina Jolie). She is diagnosed as a sociopath who can easily manipulate people, so you can already imagine how this film is detached.
The movie was based on a book written by Susanna Kaysen which was inspired in her own life. Though the writer didn't enjoy much the screenplay saying the movie "romanticized" too much the story. Also, Angelina Jolie won an Academy Award as "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" and they couldn't have chosen better.

Kings of Summer (2013)
This movie was founded by coincidence (or not) while I was bored as hell in summer of 2013 and the adventure these three boys offer was exactly what I needed.
Two best friends, who are bored with their annoying and lame lives, and a weirdo who just seemed to join them, built a tree house at a glade in the woods and decide to live there.
I think every young person, especially those who are going through that phase of life where they are just tired of living with their parents and want to become an independent adult, even tho they're seventeen years old, should watch it. It's very fun, the cinematography is amusing and the characters, specially Biaggio, are very cool. I mean, who never wanted to build a tree house in the middle of nowhere and live there with your best friends?

Submarine (2011)
To be quite honestly I cannot remember the details of this movie since I watched a long time ago. But I can assure it is a very nice one if you do or want to know what is like to be a total "not-interesting-unpopular-kid" who's in love with someone. To sum up, the British film is (as Wikipedia says) a coming-of-age comedy-drama adapted from a novel of the same name.
Oliver (Craig Roberts) is, like I said, an unpopular kid, and his objectives are to make Jordana (Yasmin Paige) - a girl who kissed him to make her ex-boyfriend jealous - his girlfriend and find out if his mother is cheating on his father with their neighbor.
I don't know what kind of movies you watch, but in my opinion, this film is way more than what I just said and the plot is very peculiar and interesting, but you will only find out if you watch it. If it's helpful, Alex Turner contributed with the soundtrack and I don't even should bother to say, but it's amazingly good.

I Origins (2014)
The last, but not the least. Okay, before anything else, this is the one who inspired me to write this post. I won't say anything more than this: it's a sci-fi movie, there's a scientist who wants to make worms to see (he loves eyes and you will see why). He meets a 'mysterious' woman at a party who is totally the opposite of him. He is logical, believes in scientific proofs and math. She is spiritual, believes in religion and has faith.
There it is, I won't say anything else because it was such a sudden choice of me to watch it. I saw this picture, barely read the synopsis, watched it for pure boredom, didn't expect much, then suddenly BOOM, it's one of the best sci-fi movies I ever watched. In other words: this movie is awesome
This is the kind of film where you will feel everything first and think about later. So, right after you watch it, either way you're going to love it or hate it. Also, there are a couple of things you should know:
  1. If you want to be more surprised by what's going to happen, do not, under any hypothesis, watch the trailer. Trust me, even the director agrees with me.
  2. Wait until the credits are finished or jump it because there is a last scene that may surprise you even more and you have to watch it.
I've chosen these films very carefully, making sure each one has its own interesting plot and story and hoping you may enjoy just like I did. Alright folks, make your choice, grab your blanket, make some coffee or tea idk, open a second tab on Netflix and may the fun begins!

Somebody to stay.

A letter for the people who will appear in my life.

Days pass by just like people come and go in my life, but now I'm looking for someone who will stay. I have a collection of living body names that go through mine, whom now are nothing but ghosts from the past.
I don't care what you did in the past, if you have green hair or if you mind is made up with theories that I do not agree. I only care if you're here to stay.
I hope you can see how I will try my best to know every piece of your heart, mind and body and I also hope when you look at me you'll look through my soul. I hope you can understand why I am so fixed with nostalgia feelings or "saudade" as it is in the Portuguese dictionaries and how words can easily affect me.
I am saying this because I don't understand; I was the one who wanted most to leave but I was the one left behind. I am saying this because I'm tired of feeling like I don't belong where I live, just because of the loneliness river that it is permanently in my body, just like it is a bloodstream.

I can not promise many things but I am allowed to promise you that I won't go anywhere.

Sincerely yours,
Ana Paula Oliveira Albuquerque; the loner
